Cards Against Humanity

Cards Against Humanity

“Cards Against Humanity is a fill-in-the-blank party game that turns your awkward personality and lackluster social skills into hours of fun!”

What Makes Cards Against Humanity A Winner?

This game is not for the faint of heart. If you like dark humor, and you haven’t been living under a rock, this game is probably on your radar. It’s an adult party game where there’s a judge who reads a question card, and all other players play a response card they think is appropriate; the judge picks a winner, and the rounds continue in clockwise order. Many of the questions and responses are not politically correct, so definitely don’t play this one with grandma!

What Do you Meme?

What Do You Meme?

“Find out who will be crowned Meme Queen/King by competing with friends (or family if you’re brave) to match photo cards with caption cards, creating your own outrageously funny meme combinations.”

Why Is What Do You Meme? A Game Night Must?

Do you like memes? Our group of friends sure does! This game is a fresh twist on the idea of the adult trick-taking party game genre. Like other games in the genre, there’s a judge, and every player puts in a response card, the judge picks a winner, and the round continues. The best part? Instead of the judge reading question cards, the judge now shows well-known memes, and the responses from other players go to the picture. What do you get when you pair memes with a spice of dark humor? A great night, with lots of laughs. Once again, don’t bring grandma though. We usually like to throw in a few drinks, and the night usually gets wild.

The Game of HAM

Fun group games

“Game of HAM is a party card and board game that will have players squealing with laughter or turning away in shame. The adult version is meant for people who like their humor the way Scrooge likes his coffee, dark and bitter.”

Why Is Game of HAM a Hidden Gem?

Chances are, you’ve never heard of this one, but if you like dark humor board games, you should! Like the other games above, it’s a judge fill-in-the-blank game, but with a board game twist. As the judge picks a winner, that player advances on the board and becomes the judge the following round. The game finishes at the designated end goal spot, and players earn ability cards as they navigate the board. The first thing to note about this one is the sheer volume of content, true to its name, it’s a meaty boy. You will love the structure this game adds to the formula, with clear end goals, and it will blow you away by how many game modes and optional rules there are (24 pages!). Don’t worry, there’s a 1-page quick start guide though. The ability cards are tons of fun to play with, and not to forget that there are 2 pages of drinking rules. This one may become your game-night favorite!

Deception: Murder In Hong Kong

Deception: Murder in Hong Kong

“A social game of deduction and deception. Who among you can see through the lies? Who is capable of getting away with murder?”

Deception: Murder In Hong Kong, What’s Not To Love?

Murder, deception, who did it? This game is a great social deduction game where there is a forensic scientist and a bunch of “detectives” on the case; little do they all know, one of them is a murderer, another witnessed the whole thing, and the murderer may even have an accomplice to boot! Every player is dealt possible murder weapons, and clues at the scene of the crime, the forensic scientist guides players through the scene of the crime, and players discuss amongst themselves who did it based on the clues given. At the same time all of this is going on, the murderer is stealthily trying to steer people in the wrong direction, and the witness is trying to guide everyone to who did it. Neither the murderer nor the witness can act suspicious though, or it’s game over!

Codenames

Codenames board game

“Codenames is a fun and challenging social word game with a simple premise. Two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their CODENAMES. Teams compete to contact all of their agents first.”

Can You Solve The Codenames In Time?

The timer is running in this spy vs spy party game. A grid of different tiles with codenames is laid on the table, and two rival spymasters are given a grid of which ones they need their teammates to guess, which ones will give points to the other team, which will go nowhere, and which spot will just make things go nuclear for their team. The spymasters take turns giving clues to their teammates and must find the best way to convey as many codenames to their team as possible, while not confusing them into the tiles that could spell disaster. The team that can get all their codenames first wins, but going too quickly could spell disaster. We loved playing this game, and it’s usually a great game to bring to the table when the group is looking for a game that requires a bit more thinking.

Just One

Just One board game

“Just One is a cooperative party game in which you play together to discover as many mystery words as possible. Find the best clue to help your teammate. Be unique, as all identical clues will be canceled!”

Just One: Simple and Great!

Work together, score points, and try to win! There’s a judge who has a random card with 5 words on it; without knowing what the words are, they pick one of the numbers. All other players have a little dry-erase board and marker and have to give clues to the judge to help them solve what the word they unknowingly picked is. True to the name, all the players are only allowed to give one-word clues; they must be careful though because they aren’t allowed to coordinate with each other, and if they choose the same word, they cancel each other out, and the judge has fewer clues to work with. What makes this game great is it’s not particularly hard, yet it could get to be quite tricky. If you pick a clue that’s too easy, you’ll run the risk of canceling it out; if you go with one too complex, you might steer the judge in the wrong direction, and everyone loses. We love light-hearted games, and unlike some other games on this list, this can be fun to play with kids.

One Night Ultimate Werewolf

One Night Ultimate Werewolf

“One Night Ultimate Werewolf has so few rules, everyone will be up and playing in just minutes. Each player is given a single card, which they secretly view, giving them a special power to help the Villager or Werewolf team.”

One Night Ultimate Werewolf: A Howling Good Time

A lot can go bump in the night with this social deduction party game. There’s a wolf amongst the villagers, and everyone must figure out who it is. Everyone is dealt a secret role, and all these roles have their own abilities to go with them. The game is played over the course of the night, where the mystery gets solved of who’s the furry intruder, or the wolf takes the night with its minions. We loved the dynamics of how the different roles interact with each other, and definitely recommend giving this one a try!

Now that you heard our 2 cents about these games. Get to shopping and load up for your next game night!
