Sales Rep.

Job Title: Porkbelly Junior

About The Company:

Founded in 2017, Game of HAM LLC is an indie board game dedicated to selling its indie game, and whacky products related to it. The flagship game, Game of HAM – Adult Set, is describable as Cards Against Humanity meets the board game Sorry, cranked a bit darker. It is a crude and crass adult party game not at all suitable for children.

The Job Description:

You are expected to assist in all aspects of running a convention. These conventions typically range 3-4 days (depending on the show). This means assisting in loading things from the vehicle to the convention booth, and at times, loading the vehicle from a warehouse beforehand. You will be expected to assist with setting up the booth. You will do the same for load-out at the end.

Compensation:

  • $150/day of the show + tips are pooled and split among all employees at the end of the show evenly.
  • Allowance of $50/day for food on show days. This stipend doesn’t roll over between days. Going over the $50/day will be the responsibility of the employee to cover.
  • Gas, parking, and hotel are covered for travel when applicable. This includes the travel between show days.

Job Requirements:

  • Outgoing Personality – must be able to start a dialogue with strangers at conventions. The expectation is to not let people walk by without engagement if you aren’t busy attending people
  • Able To Lift 50lbs – during move-in and load-out, you will need to trans-load.
  • Having a Valid Driver License – Having the ability to drive 3+ hours.
  • Able To Be on Feet 8+ Hours – Much of the job is standing at the front of the booth on concrete. This can be taxing over 3-4 days.
  • Follow Load-In and Load-Out Protocol – This will all be explained.
  • Ability To Juggle People in A Fast-Moving Environment – You are expected to engage with as many attendees as possible. This means being able to have checkpoints during your pitch for people to walk, marinade (look at content in peace), and make judgment calls on timewasters with ways to move them from the booth faster. This will come with time, and training is available. This also means moving attendees around to clear up space in front of the booth or overcrowd the table.
  • Can Work in Teams – Be able to jump in when a colleague needs help, and be able to group people together in one pitch.
  • Have A Sense of Humor – If you only see this as a job and can’t have fun being unhinged (respectfully) with the attendees, then this job isn’t for you. If you don’t like dark humor yourself; this is likely not the job for you.
  • Observant Multitasker – Can identify people expressing interest in the booth’s signage while pitching to people. Passing cards to these people discretely while pitching is necessary to line the next group up.
  • Able To Sleep on Air Mattresses and Share AirBnB Rooms with Colleagues – We all share a room at shows. Usually, the team is 2 people, but can range to 1-4, on occasion.
  • Always Try to Get Something from Attendees – This means try to upsell them on bundle deals, land a basic sale, or at least get them to connect with us on social media and take a flyer.
  • Must Be OK with Long Travel Days – Much of this job requires travel. This can at times mean multiple days of travel or a drive that is 12+ hours. There is flexibility on this for part-time workers.
  • Know The Product – This means being able to explain it and answer questions.
  • Reliable – Given that these are 3-4 shows that must be booked 6-12 months in advance, you can’t bail on them last minute unless there is some sort of emergency.
  • Inventory Check – Products must be accounted for before, and after the show to make sure no products went missing/ got stolen/ or forgotten.
